Traveling to Bessarabia with a Chef

In 2019, Alexander Baron and I held our first enogastronomic tours to Bessarabia. We tried to make them unique and largely convey our love for the region, local wine and food. Ahead of us is a hot summer, and gracious autumn, and we are sure that we will travel around the whole world again! It’s time to discover the potential of your country. To see that Ukraine also has its own “Tuscany” just three hours drive from Odessa. After all, with every breath of Bessarabian air you exhale stress, and with every breath of local wine you drink freedom.
At the beginning of this year, we set off on the wine and taste route with our guest, Odessa chef Andrei Velichko. Andrey is from Izmail. He studies Bessarabian and Odessa cuisines, develops restaurant concepts with an emphasis on local food, and helps promote local products on the Ukrainian market. We decided to bring chefs to Bessarabia and this is a non-profit project for us. Local food is a topic for a separate trip: karnaki and chorba, milina and kavarma, buki and mandzha, pecanka and zama, borsch “na strochak”, myrudia and kashlama, go on a trip with us and these dishes will become a part of your gastronomic dictionary.
