Pizza dough

Pizza is an Italian dish that has captivated the whole world. So much so that British children, for example, believe that pizza comes from British cuisine. And although the word pizza is known in every corner of the world, they say that real pizza is made only in Naples. Therefore, Pizza Napoletano is protected by a special trademark of quality and uniqueness. Flour, yeast, water, and salt are standard ingredients in pizza dough, but fillings can be very different: cheese, eggs, fish, meat, any fantasy. Main course, appetizer, dinner, or even dessert, tiny aperitifs or giant circles – all this is about it, about the pizza loved by the whole world.

Ingredients

  • 250 g flour
  • 120 ml warm water
  • 10 g dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ¾ tsp salt

Cooking method

Step 1

Sift flour into a large bowl. Add salt, yeast, and make a well in the centre. Pour warm water and olive oil into the flour. Knead a soft and not very sticky dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a little flour. Place the dough on a work surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Step 2

Make a ball out of the dough, put in a bowl, cover it with cling film. Leave the dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour. The dough should double in size.

My tips and tricks:

You can make pizza dough in advance and freeze it. It can be stored frozen for up to 3 months. To do this, dust parchment paper with flour and roll out a circle of dough 6 mm thick and about 30 cm in diameter on it. Make sure the edges of the circle are thicker than the center. Sprinkle flour on top of the dough, roll the parchment and dough. When you are about to make pizza, take out the roll and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Then unfold it, put it on a baking sheet and you can immediately spread the filling.
